Hiking up in the mountains above Lake Chelan, WA, I came across this cutbank. No other signs of life. Baking hot, dry and brown, except for this strange plant. Bizarre and beautiful and very much alive in a semi-arid sun drenched little spot in the mountains. Anyone know what this is?
