Behind The Lens

Location

This photos was taken at RSPB Ham Wall in Somerset. I was scanning the reed beds for the elusive Bittern when I heard the sound of these swans coming informal a landing. I turned quickly and although I had no tie to check settings I managed to catch them landing on the water.

Time

It was probably around 11 am on a warm summer's day. I was ready to pack up and go to another hide as nothing much seemed to be happening at this one

Lighting

just before noon so lighting was fairly harsh

Equipment

I use a micro four thirds set up as it is is not as heavy to lug around. This particular camera is a panasonic g8 with a 100-400mm Tamron lens attached

Inspiration

I enjoy birding and taking photographs of them .Sometimes while waiting for rarities to appear, or not, the commonest subjects can make the best photographs.

Editing

Jus a little crop and increase vibrance

In my camera bag

Panosonic G* and GX80, Tamron 100-400mm lens and lots of spare batteries!

Feedback

Be patient, but ready to act quickly, birds are fast and sneaky subjects. you never know what will show up.
