Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken while walking in Yekaterunburg, Russia, on one of rare warm summer days.

Time

I guess it was nearly 3 pm, we were walking with our model and my friend and colleague Pavel.

Lighting

At that day we thought - we will work only wuth the sun this time.So we tried to find a good place, with trees nearby to have some kind of shadow picture.

Equipment

At that time I used Nikon D90 with my favourite 10-24mm; but this was made on 70-300 tele. Rare case, I didn't mean to use it that time at all.

Inspiration

This session was inspired by Pavel Rebruk, my good friend. He is a fan of good portraits, while I rarely try to make it "Classic". So I thought that the old wood house's window will be a good decoration. It was good, warm light, not too bright, so we stayed there for quite some time.

Editing

Usually I do a quick one in lightroom, like correcting the colours saturation, because sometimes my camera does not show then the natural way. Also, sometimes I give an update on sharpness, to make some focus points for the photo.

In my camera bag

Not too much - as when I'm walking I usually take only a camera with 1 or 2 lens max, and a small reflector like 30cm/50cm. I think that it is good practice to work when you don't have plenty of equipment at your disposal.

Feedback

Well, my advise is simple - natural light is your best friend =) Of course if can take some good soft lens it will be easier too.
