Behind The Lens

Location
This was taken in a hotel room in Scotland. It wasn't the best room, being a little cramped and very cluttered so we had to improvise with what we had, luckily the model was great and went along with the idea.
Time
It was taken around 2pm. The light was ok and quite overcast so no problems with harsh sun.
Lighting
The window light was perfect for this. I love shadows so went for an angle that allowed a decent amount of light and dark contrast.
Equipment
Canon 5d iii, hand held, tamron 24-70, my go to lens.
Inspiration
I like to create a mood, this was a little fun with the pose and I went for a sort of subtly provocative look.
Editing
I always post process. This had a little colour toning and some balancing of the highlights. There is a slight vignette, and a little bit of local contrast adjustments to put more emphasis on the model.
In my camera bag
I travel light, one camera, two lenses (I'll add a 50mmm), a flash and a small folding octabox in case I run out of natural light.
Feedback
It's about the angle with this one, almost backlit though the angle of light from the window still reaches the model. I had to place her pretty close to the window and I'm standing on a chair to get the downward angle on her. It's slightly over exposed in camera, the 5d iii can be a little noisy in the shadows at higher iso so keeping the exposure up means I don't have to introduce too much noise when adjusting shadows later. As long as the highlights aren't completely blown, it's easy to bring them down a touch in lightroom, which is preferable to having to increase the exposure of the whole image in this scenario.
