Location
This photo was taken on a popular walking path not too far from home on Vancouver Island. We picked this spot hoping for colourful blossoms and flowers, but alas, we were a bit too early in the season and we made to with just the green foliage.Time
It was midafternoon when we started, and although the light was not the greatest, we stayed within the densest parts of the path to filter and speckle the sun until it was lower in the sky and moved on to more open areas.Lighting
I was trying to stay out of the afternoon harsh sun and used the leaves to shade us as much as possible.Equipment
Canon EOS 6D ƒ/1.8 1/2500 50mm ISO100 Shot handheld while also holding a branch in front of the lens with other hand for some foreground interest.Inspiration
Originally the idea was to have the model picking and smelling flower blossoms, but since we were a bit early in the month and none were out,I told her to take interest in the leaves of this plant. She overacted in the most hilarious way and this snap was taken while we were all laughing about it.Editing
Edited in Lightroom, I tried many styles of edits for this shot and most of my shots. I think I was just discovering how to make the washed out look using the curve tool module at the time.In my camera bag
I always carry my canon 6d with 24-105 f/4 L, 70-200 f/2.8 L and 50 f/1.8. On top of that depending on what fits in my backpack i usually carry a APS-C canon body and/or a sony a6000. I have a crazy amount of just weird little useful items and props such as faery lights, clips, pins, batteries, a mylar blanket for emergency and to use as a reflector if need be. Lately I've had a gorilla pod tripod strapped to the outside.Feedback
Have fun, be adaptable and try not to miss the moments between the planned shots.
