Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in the woods of Keystone Gulch, Colorado.

Time

My dog and I were out for our mounting walk.

Lighting

A fresh layer of snow in the bitter winter sun creating an ethereal and magical scene. The reflection of light provided the perfect natural light.

Equipment

I used a Canon 7D Mark II with a Sigma 18-35mm f/1,8 art lens.

Inspiration

My mourning walk along with the winter snow inspired me to take a photo of my dog’s effortless good looks.

Editing

I used Adobe Lightroom and photoshop to process the photo.

In my camera bag

I normally have my canon 7D Mark ii. For lenses I carry a 50mm f/1.4, a 18-35mm f/1.8, and a 70-200mm f/4. When I need it, I use a b&w photo 6 stop nd filter and a gorilla pod tripod.

Feedback

I love using a shorter length lens on my dog portraits, it allows me to get more personal with the subjec. Dog treats are also highly helpful in gaining their attention!
