I have been waiting for a year to take the photo,every time i wanted to go it was to cloudy or there was no milky-way in the back. So this evening around 01:00 it was dark enough en a lot of lights were out to take this photo.Lighting
The image is build out of 3 photo's one light painted foreground and the same for the propeller, and one for the night sky. The reason i took 2 of the subject is that i wanted it to be sharp all over. i have used my phone light to to the light paintingEquipment
I use a Canon 6D with a Canon 16-35mm 2.8, a gitzo carbon tripod and no remote but a 2 sec timerInspiration
we have a history on the island with WW2 and this monument remembering us that on on February 15, 1944, the Lancaster ND363 PM-K crashed at this location. A propeller from a bomber is mounted on the wooden frame. The memorial symbolizes the 189 allied war pilots (more than 40 aircraft) who died on or near Texel in the Second World War. The memorial specifically mentions Eugene Darter, of the US Airforce, who died on December 16, 1943 on Texel. and i hope that you will understand the reason i wanted stars in the back groundEditing
yes i did a ton of it.. Milky-way photo's are not that visible on the island as you see her, i did some dodge en burn to get it more visible. I have brought out the colors in the sky and changed the colors to my liking for this photo. And i had to overlay the photo's to make it in to one photoIn my camera bag
I have my canon 6D and always the 16-35 on it.. also i take a 100mm 2.8 macro from canon for the close up shot or for something in the distance. Filters are standerd in my bag with a blower and some micro fiber When i go out to look for birds i use a sigma 150-600mm. And my Gitzo for landscape and a small tripod for macro schots or when i travel.Feedback
Yes go out to look for a interesting subject and look on the internet or a app when the milky way or the moon or any other thing you want in the background will be there at the right time and be patient.. how to take the photo depends on your surroundings, that will effect the outcome of your photo it will be trail and error.
