Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken off the coast of Australia near Morton Island. QLD

Time

It was about 2:00 pm

Lighting

It was an excellent day and we noticed a mother Humpback and her Calf were swimming nearby when a male Humpback tried to interact with the female. She ran him off and this caused the male Humpback to break over and over in anger to his rejection.

Equipment

I use a Nikon D90 with a Nikon 80 x 200 mm f2.8 lens handheld.

Inspiration

See the Humpbacks breaching is amazing. The power of seeing 40 tones of mammal racing underwater and then breaching the surface with more than half of its body is awesome

Editing

This is a raw unedited photograph

In my camera bag

I always carry a spare body and a variety of lens including flashes.

Feedback

My advise is easy. Be there. The whole battle we all face as shooters is, being there for the pic.
