This photo was taken during a conversation with a complete stranger. I was having in a coffee in a street cafe in Cape Town, South Africa.Time
It was around 2pm on a Sunday in Cape Town, South Africa.Lighting
The lighting was entirely natural. Thanks to the relatively high angle of the sun and the buildings providing a lot of indirect light the scene was nicely lit.Equipment
Just a simple Samsung Galaxy S8 in classic black and white mode.Inspiration
The man from Malawi I shared the table with wrote everything down that he learned on his travels that seemed important to him. 'When you think you know it all life will teach you don't.' It struck me that he was using a combination of traditional books and online tech to keep track of his experiences. He shared his knowledge online. The world has weird ideas about African people. I wanted to keep this moment and put it out there so others, sharing my experience.Editing
There was no post processing done.In my camera bag
I always carry a phone of course. It allows you to take pictures without making people uncomfortable. You get more natural shots that way. For photography I use a Canon EOS 1200D, normally with a 55, 100-300 and a wide angle lens in my bag. Most of the time I shoot with a CPL filter and love using ND4 and ND8 filters for landscape photography.Feedback
Cease the moment and do not hesitate. If the gut feeling goes 'this could be good' it usually is.
