I haven't had much opportunity lately for any portrait work, so I've been revisiting and reprocessing photos from previous shoots. Part of the reason for this is a hope of finding hidden gems that I may have overlooked the first time around, but also to analyze the shoots as a whole, comparing the "keepers" to the not-so-great shots and determining what drove the difference between them so that I can improve my process in the future.
This shot of London Andrews comes from one of my earliest outdoor shoots, and my first with off-camera flash. Lighting was a cheap, ebay special strobe with a softbox, powered by a deep cycle battery and inverter being lugged through the woods.
