It was 6:30 in the morning, I had woken up at 4am and I drove two hours to this hidden black sands beach in Punalu'u, Hawaii to catch the sunrise and some great shots of white foam waves hitting the dark black sands. This isn't what one normally considers when thinking of a high schooler on her winter break, but to me, going on adventures like this to see what our natural world has to offer, is exactly the kind of experience I would gladly fill my vacation with.
