Behind The Lens

Location

The Atacama Desert, in northern Cile, is the driest desert in the world (yes, drier than the Sahara, though smaller).

Time

The late afternoon light sets the stage for the sunset show in Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon).

Lighting

The warm colours of the sand and rock desert keep changing by the minute while the sun is bound to disappear behind the salt covered dunes.

Equipment

My Panasonic Lumix is an extension of my arm: no need for tripod or else in a still powerful light.

Inspiration

Seeig my wife so intent in trying to capture with her eyes the immensity of nature reminded me of my "duty" to try and capture it myself. But in a more durable way, by means of my trusted camera.

Editing

No post-processing could have improved what mother nature did over such a barren valley.

In my camera bag

In daylight, my semi-compact camera is all I actually need.

Feedback

There is little advice indeed that can be given in order to get a picture like the one I shot. You just have to be there, at the right time of day. And enjoy the show.
