Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in 2017 during an autumn walk in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine.

Time

It was deep autumn. October fog shrouded the Carpathian mountains. Giant spruce paws fluttered in the light afternoon breeze. A golden scattering of beech leaves, lost in a coniferous forest, rang brightest in the wind.

Lighting

The lighting was rather dim, diffuse. But, thanks to a bright spot of golden leaves against the background of dark coniferous branches and a glimmer of upper blue light through the crowns of fir trees, a magical haze appeared, which strengthened its presence thanks to the central puddle in the frame.

Equipment

LEICA M (Typ 240); Summicron-M 1:2/50; f/8; 1/12 sec; ISO 200

Inspiration

I was inspired by the lighting from one source- a glimmer of light from above, which reminded me of Caravaggio's paintings.

Editing

Yes, I had to additionally expose the frame using raw, because there was not enough lighting.

In my camera bag

my camera, two lenses (50mm and 24mm); polarizing filter; tape, foil.

Feedback

I would recommend taking a tripod with you.
