I really love the movement and the sharpness in this photo! Great lighting and great shot!

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shot in a small coffee shop that was closed at the time. The backdrop was made up of pictures on the cafe wall.

Time

Shot in the evening after the cafe was closed, the lighting done artificially

Lighting

The lighting was done with a single off camera flash in a softbox

Equipment

I've always shot Canon and used a 24-105 f4 for this one

Inspiration

I love the sense of motion in this photo and have been shooting various 'hair' shots for some time now. It's become a bit of an artistic obsession ! https://kbergin2.myportfolio.com/things-hair

Editing

I first make basic adjustments in adobe camera raw and then use photoshop to 'tidy up' the image, finally I will often run the image through DXO Nik for a particular toning style

In my camera bag

Currently shooting with a Canon R6 Hahnel flash heads and a small variety of lenses, 50mm 1.4, 24-105 f4 and my favourite portrait lens, my old 100mm 2.8

Feedback

Experiment with your shutter speed and you can capture a models emotion through motion, a lot of times it just works !
