I luck out where this plane was sitting. It was on the end of all the planes that was out on the runway that day. There was nothing in front of it or to the side of it when I took this. It was a really cloudy day. And everything was just perfect. If you look you can see the hanger in the side by the #5. I love B-W photos. And this is probable one of my top 10 photos I have taken.

It was about 2 pm. Me and my son was at the air show at the airport here in Great Falls Montana. It was one of the hottest day we had. I believed it was in the high 90s that day. Walking around that tarmac was brutal. There was some clouds to help block some of the sun. There was no air moving. it was just a hot sticky day. There was about 25 different airplanes at the show. My son loves planes and so do I. Great Falls airport sits up on a hill over looking the town. This plain was sitting on the end of the tarmac. So I took a lot of shots of this plane. The reflections of the clouds was insane. Being the plane was sitting at the end of the tarmac and up on a hill. I did not get any thing in front or behind it. So it look like it was in the clouds.I could not have pick a better time and place for this.Lighting
The lighting was a mix of diffuse and harsh, with the sun going in and out of the clouds. I love the light and all the reflections in the body of the plane. If you look close you can just see the hanger reflection in the side. But if you did not know that, you probable would not notice it. This is one of my favorite shots I have taken to date.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T2i. with a Canon 28/105 lens. I did not take my tripod that day. It was to darn hot to pack around a lot of equipment that day.Inspiration
The reflections in the body of the plane was just awesome. The lighting and the clouds made it look like it was flying. I took a lot of shot of this.Editing
On this shot I did not do a lot to it. I bump up the contrast a little. And brighten it up some to make it pop. There is no cropping on it. This is how I took it. That is probable why I love this shot so much. I was going to try to take out the hanger reflection on the side. But there was no need and it probable would not look right anyway.In my camera bag
I have to camera bodies in my bag. A Canon EOS T3i. And a Canon 6D mark II which I love. The T3i give me a great crop frame. And the 6d gives ma a awesome full frame. My go to lens most of the time, is a Canon EF 24/105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens. It give me a good range of shooting. For my long shots I have a Sigma 150/600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens. This lens is insane cool. I have gotten some sweet wildlife shots with it. For my night sky shots and storm chasing . I have two lens. A Canon 28mm USM wide angle f/1.8 prime. Rokinon FE14M-C 14mm F2.8 Ultra Wide. It may not be Canon lens. But it is a sharp lens. When I storm chase I also carry some one gallon zip lock bags. They make for a cheap and easy way for a camera rain cover. Just put your camera in the bag and zip the bag down on to the lens hood. I will use a big rubber ban to tighten it up if it starts raining hard sometimes. You can still get to all the buttons and still see though the viewfinder. Really cheap and easy.Feedback
The world around us is a photograph. We just take pieces out with are camera. Some of my favorite photos I have taken was at the spur of the moment. Some people have ask me. Do you need to go to school to be a good photographer. I tell them, No you don't need to go to school to get great photos like this. You just need to shoot what feel right. To me Photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in the ordinary place. If you see something that moves you, and then shoot it, you keep the moment. My rule of thumb is if I take 1000 shots and get 5 great shots or more I scored. You need to be able to take criticism Good or Bad on your shots. It is the only way to learn.
