Rhyolite, Nevada grew quickly beginning in 1905 as a booming gold mining town but declined almost as rapidly when the Montgomery Shoshone Mine closed in 1911. Since the 1920s the crumbling buildings have attracted tourists and film makers. The California-mission style train depot was completed by 1906. Sadly, the last train left Rhyolite Station in July 1914. Located 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas near the eastern edge of Death Valley National Park.
