Location
This photo was taken at White Lake in Stillwater, New Jersey. This beautiful meadow is preserved by Ridge & Valley conservancy.Time
I love shooting during golden hour so this image was taken right at the beginning of sunset.Lighting
I wanted the flowers to look like they were shimmering in the sunlight with out overexposing them or over powering my clients. I felt the subtle glow of light at sunset would be best for this and it painted the flowers and subjects perfectly with light.Equipment
I only used my Nikon d810 and Nikor 24-70mm lens. I also used an ND filter. Since I was working with a lot of white it helped me not overexpose amd lose as little detail as possible.Inspiration
When I saw the leading lines the clouds brought to this specific path I knew I needed to act fast to get this shot. I chose to feature the mother and her two daughters, as I felt they had a very special bond and I wanted to feature that closeness.Editing
I always start in Lightroom mostly color balancing and playing with shadow/light in the image. I then go to photoshop to add in my own style and finishing touches. In my camera bag
My Nikon D810, Nikon 24-70mm & 70-200mm lenses. Plenty of ND & UV filters. Camera cleaning supplies and a notebook to jot down any inspiration I had for the photoshoot before hand.Feedback
My advice is to get up for sunrise or setup for sunset. Your skies will be far more interesting & your lighting much more forgiving. Pay attention to how the light hits your subject and always prepare yourself in advance for where the sun is either rising or setting in your shot at that location. I believe you tell a better story if you listen to your clients and then use good lighting to make it come to life in your images.
