Behind The Lens

Location
I took this image while on safari in Tanzania, Africa.
Time
The shot was taken in the midday heat of the day
Lighting
I am always looking for candid shots of people & I saw this Massai man walking along in front of us. His brightly colored blanket caught my eye and my safari guide informed me that the Massai believe bright colors will keep lions away. The thought I had was, other than his thin carrying stick, this was all the older man had to defend himself. That & his footwear which were made out of old used tires made this a 'must' image for me. The landscape and the single animal in the background were added bonuses for this image of the nomadic Massasi gent.
Equipment
I took the shot using a Canon EOS 60D and my telephoto to ensure I didnt invade this man's space with the need to be so close.
Inspiration
The nomadic nature of the Massai tribes inspired me to capture as many images of them as I could.
Editing
This image is straight out of my camera.
In my camera bag
Ah...normally I would pack my 100-400 telephoto but on this occasion we were on the go so much I used only that lens & left my bag back at camp. Thankfully I made the right choice!
Feedback
The advice I would give is this: if you have the opportunity to go on a African Safari do it. It has been the ultimate of trips for me and has made me begin to plan a second trip for 2019. I never dreamt I'd get there ever.....it was a dream come true.
