Behind The Lens

Location

Visiting Jerusalem, I went to the Western Wall which is the only section of the temple remaining from King Herod's time. 2000 years ago this was the place where the Jewish priests worshipped G-d. Jesus would have also walked by this limestone wall. The Orthodox Jew and his twin sons look out over the large pavement in front of the wall.

Time

It was the middle of the day. But see Lighting...

Lighting

Despite being in the middle of the day, there was a gentle sandstorm giving a diffuse lighting.

Equipment

Canon EOS 40D

Inspiration

I found the visit totally captivating as this is such a holy site for Jews, Christians and Muslims. In many ways it represents the very centre and focal point of these three great monotheistic religions. I saw faith in the eyes of so many people as I prayed for peace.

Editing

Some simple sharpening helped to highlight the shapes of the three people.

In my camera bag

Just my camera.

Feedback

Head for Jerusalem during a gentle sandstorm, it tales away the harsh shadows.
