Sunset at one of my favourite spots, a wild and often empty beach called Hamiltons Gap on Auckland's Awhitu peninsula. This shot combines two of my favourite challenges...shooting straight at the sun as it sets and capturing water movement. This shot would be almost impossible without the use of filters and having large pieces of glass in front of your lens in surging surf means that you often end up with drops of moisture causing sun spots. I could remove these during the editing process but I personally prefer to leave them in as they were part of the shooting experience.
