This photo was taken on a shoot that I was lucky enough to have been picked to go on to celebrate 100 years of Nikon - it was shot in the most amazing flat in Westminster, London.Time
We were lucky enough that the shoot was mid afternoon, in September so the sun was low.Lighting
Only ambient lighting was used on this shoot, no flash at all. I prefer to use natural light in most of my shots and love experimenting during the editing process. This was one of my favourite shots from the whole day.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100, 18-105 mm lens - hand held and just the ambient light from the window to light the model.Inspiration
This was the first time I had ever taken photos of a model, I had always steered away from "people" work only really concentrating on nature, commercial, landscapes - the odd family shot or random people. But this day inspired me to look at so much more from street photography through to fashion, flash work even macro. I liked the play of light though for the series of photos I took of Monique - plus she was so great and easy to work with.Editing
Just very light work in lightroom for this photo - simple conversion into black and white but with some work in contrast, and a little dehaze - making the eyes pop.In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, 35mm, 18-105, and a 70-200mm lens, 3 hoods, Lee's foundation kit, Lee Big and Super Stopper. Lees Rings for each lens. Cleaning Cloths. Soft Brush. UV filter. Flash unit. Samsung S7 Edge and Hauwei P20 Pro.Feedback
With this shot it was the lighting and having a good model, plus luck - I like hand held the best as I can move around and get on to the floor if necessary, making sure as in this shot to capture the eyes. I photograph what I like and love - when I took this it wasn't until I got home and actually saw it that I thought I could do something with it - I take a camera phone or my Nikon with me everyday and I photograph something no matter what - to me you've got to love what you capture - and hope that others can see what you love - thank you so much for liking my photography it means the world to me.
