Nicely done. Perfect focus on the eye and the feathers of the eagle are so sharply detailed. Stunning photography.

Behind The Lens

Location
This picture was taken in Bayan-Olgiy, Western Mongolia during the annual festival of hunters with eagles ( Golden Eagle Festival ).
Time
The picture was taken in mid-afternoon, 13:30 October 1, 2017
Lighting
Cloudy weather turned out to be much better to shoot than the previous day, when the sun shines brightly. Periodically appearing soft light allowed to take a picture without harsh contrast of shadows. In fact, this day turned out to make the most successful shots
Equipment
The picture was taken on Nikon D610 and Tamron 150-600 (G1). For a long time, this lens has been my favorite optics. The shot was taken "hand-held", without a tripod
Inspiration
I really enjoyed filming people outside the ring when they are busy preparing the birds and not paying much attention to you. And the long focal length just helped in this. I also do not like staged shots with people. Of course, there were certain ideas for shooting. I wanted to somehow "combine" the gaze of a bird and the gaze of a nomad .
Editing
Although I love post-processing and think it's necessary, in this case it is extremely small. This is a full frame, with little or no cropping. Initial processing in Capture NX-D, then purely symbolic in PS.
In my camera bag
I have a fairly voluminous backpack, while there are not many unnecessary things in it. It always contains Nikon D750 and three lenses that I use. The main and most beloved at the present time is Tamron 150-600 (G2). There is also Nikkor 24-120 / f4 and Tamron 15-30 / f2.8, which I often use in interior photography. Also, there are always 4 spare batteries, a remote control, a set for cleaning optics, spare memory cards, two flashlights (head and hand), a light hat and gloves.
Feedback
To those who suddenly one day find themselves in Mongolia at this festival, I would advise not to get carried away with photography in the ring. Outside it, you can find much more interesting moments from the real life of nomads. Well, a large focal length will make snapshots without disturbing the people to do their work and not forcing them to pose for the camera.
