We did not have bubble gum during the shoot but I added it and added a little fire in post. While post processing the colors and the image started to take on a Norman Rockwell painted look and it was fun because I always wanted to do something like this. This was shot in a patio area behind the hotel and just worked out all the way around. The post processing made this good even though it was minimal. One of my favorites!

Location
This was taken at an Anime Convention in Minnesota. The convention was held at a hotel and we went outside on the patio.Time
There was some shade in the afternoon on the patio at the time I took this picture. During the daylight hours of the conventions most sessions are between 11am-5pm and it is nice to find good spots around the hotel to try to match characters with backgrounds.Lighting
I had one speedlight setup and the courtyard patio area was mostly shaded at the time.Equipment
This image was shot handheld on my Sony A7 and 85mm lens. The flash is a TT680 Godox.Inspiration
Anime, comics, cosplay, and pop-culture conventions is a hobby as well as being a collector. This version of Hawkgirl was the classic version which was turned into the bombshell version along with a couple of other characters. I have a favorites characters list which I like to try and capture when I see cosplayers dressed like them.Editing
For the majority of cosplay images there is very little processing and with this image in particular for some reason while processing in Lr this image took on a Norman Rockwellesque personality which I loved. I did have to work on the bubble in Ps but that is all.In my camera bag
I am a professional photographer who mainly does weddings so I normally have my Sony A7(2nd camera), Sony A7rii(main), 2 strobe kit that is on battery and transmitter, 4 Godox TT680 Speedlight with transmitter, light stands, two beauty dishes, umbrellas, and softboxes various sizes.Feedback
Look for good lighting wherever you are and if the light is not cooperating make your own. You can make good images with 1 camera and 1 OFC Flash and with whatever gear you have get out and click the shutter.
