I live in the countryside and this road is one way to get to my house. I usually take this road as an alternate if there is a train coming and I want to get home faster rather than wait on the train to go by.Time
This was taken in the early afternoon in November, 2017. My husband knew how much I wanted to go to take pictures of the Fall colors of the trees in the mountains. That day, he spontaneously said to grab my camera and that we were going to take a drive. I was excited. We drove around towards the mountainside and I took a lot of pictures of the wonderful scenery. On our way back home, we passed through this route and I asked him to stop where I could come out of the car and get a shot of the wonderful view in front of us.Lighting
It was a cool, wet day with a lot of cloud cover so there were not any harsh sunlight. It was the perfect type of diffused lighting for this shot.Equipment
This was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T7i using an 18-55mm lens. I did not use a flash or tripod.Inspiration
The beautiful colors of Fall leaves on the trees always capture my heart. Down in the South, we do not get the colorful leaves staying too long on the trees. If a few showers of rain come or it's windy out, most of the leaves just fall off the trees. Seeing the assortment of yellows, oranges, reds and greens all in one little section of the road, I knew right away that I wanted to capture that look.Editing
Yes. As with any landscape photos, you want to show the beauty and depth of your captures. I used Photoshop Camera Raw Filter to fix the white balance, adjust the hues and increase the vibrance. I also gave a dehaze adjustment..In my camera bag
I am a passionate hobby photographer and I have started accumulating a few accessories in the past couple years. Apart from my camera, I have a speedlite flash with a diffuser, neutral density, UV and CDL filters. Depending on where I am going, I either take a monopod or tripod. My lens cleaning kit is a must. Extra batteries, chargers and memory card are always there. I used to carry my 18-55 mm and 75- 300 zoom lens but now, I have started to take my 50mm and 18-300mm. Hopefully one day I can get me a wide angle lens to take better landscape photos.Feedback
Always have your camera and equipment on hand with you wherever you go. Sometimes, a scene can pop up from nowhere and you'd want to take a picture of it. One cannot predict weather conditions, lighting changes but if the moment sneaks up on you and you just had to have a shot, you will be ready. Very few photos come out perfect on camera and sometimes it takes post processing to bring out what you actually saw. Experiment and learn tools available to you in whatever photo-editing software you may use. Also when capturing a shot, you may want to take a note of your surroundings to see which angle gives a strong composition. For this shot, it was a no-brainer. The road had curves in it and this was perfect for capturing a leading line. Also there was contrast in texture between the wetness of the road and the leaves. Always create a focus for your photo so that it draws the viewer's eyes.
