I've been playing a lot in recent shoots with using a combination of Pocket Wizard's hypersync feature with a low-power, portable strobe to reach editorial environmental effects at any location without the need for multiple generators and a full crew. This particular shot from last summer was done with a single Impact LiteTrek 4.0 in a 22" beauty dish and a partly cloudy sky for highlights. Using a mini-TT1 and TT5 trigger combo, I was able to shoot syncronized at 1-2000 second, thus allowing the LiteTrek to easily overpower the sun and deepen the environment. Lessons learned from this particular shot included using the preview histogram, rather than the preview image, and the background looked significantly darker on camera.
