Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photograph in my home studio.
Time
I took this photo the week of Halloween, 2017. I know because I wore the costume to work that day and wanted to get a self portrait before removing the makeup and costume.
Lighting
I used a cold soft light plus a Canon strobe.
Equipment
I used pretty much all Canon gear for this portrait, including my faithful Canon EOS 7D, Canon 50 mm prime lens and a Canon strobe on a Manfrotto tripod with squeeze handle head.
Inspiration
I have always been a SciFi fan and collect costumes to produce YouTube fan parodies. I wear those costumes to work at Halloween as I did in this case. Since Leonard Nimoy does recently I felt it was timely to use Vulcan makeup this time and pull out my classic movie costume.
Editing
I cleaned up some makeup glitches in Photoshop, and did some dodging and burning in Adobe Lightroom.
In my camera bag
I always have my Canon 7D, and an assortment of Canon lenses, a strobe, lightweight tripod with squeeze grip head, cleaning materials, memory adapter and multiple memory cards, and lately my DJI Mavik Air drone.
Feedback
There is no better model than yourself Sonora rice with all kinds of garb including costumes. You never know when those shots will catch the eye of a contest judge! ;)
