In Central America and South America, this small owl is the most widely distributed pygmy owl and is probably one of the most numerous owl species in those areas. It is found in a wide range of semi-open wooded habitats. They do not really care about people, they can stay in the same tree for about an hour, looking at you time to time, but still calling for a mate. Cute little bird typically 15 cm (5.9 in) with a very fast fly.
