This photo was taken at my home studio in Sevastopol. I wanted to test my new-old lighting equipment for shooting dramatic studio portraits with Gobo masks. And my friend Valeriya helped me as a model. This photo was born as a result.Time
The model and I were preparing for this photo session. It was appointed on October 29, 2017 at 4pm. Valeria needed to go from another city to me, because she often travels. So I sat and waited for her half a day)))Lighting
Well, probably, I paid the maximum attention for lighting in this case. I really wanted to make the picture mysterious and sexy. It seems to me this is the main task of this style of photo. Light should to attract attention and excite the imagination of the viewer.Equipment
This picture was taken on a Nikon D7100 body with a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DXII. A tripod was used, and a very old refurbished photographic enlarger 1956 year of issue as the main source of light with Gobo mask.Inspiration
I really love photography and try my hand at absolutely different genres of photography. Besides, I'm a bit of an engineer-inventor. Maybe hereditary, because my dad and grandfather were engineer-inventor interested in photography. So I found in their garage an old photo-enlarger that did not work because of age and I have long wanted at my studio to realize the idea with masks of Gobo. Therefore, I restored the efficiency of the photo-enlarger and cut out on a laser machine a set of masks and voila.Editing
To my regret, yes. I processed the photo, corrected the noise, exposure and contrast of the image. My task was to make a minimum photo post-processing, but shooting with such a "projector" in a dark time proved to be a challenge. In my camera bag
Contents of my backpack always depends on what I need shoot and what quality i need. But for the portrait and subject photography in my backpack is most often a set of a couple of fixed lenses: Nikon 85mm f/1.4D, Nikon 50mm f / 1.8D, Nikon 35mm f / 1.8G. For landscapes, I take with me lens Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DXII Nikon with Nikon D7100 Body, I love this camera. For wedding photography and lovestory I take everything and sometimes even 2 or 3 pcs :-)Feedback
Any advice for others? OK, I'll try))) Do not limit your desires and possibilities by a regular set of equipment. Photography is a magical art, in which there is always room for experimentation and creativity. It is impossible to come and buy a set of brushes for drawing a masterpiece. You come and buy only brushes, but whether you draw a masterpiece depends on you. But probably the main advice for obtaining good pictures - this is a good dialogue with your model. That she understood what you want from her and was determined to achieve result. As I think, your photos will be spoiled even with the steepest ideas and equipment without such dialog.
