Wow! That's one humongous engine. It's a wonder that the driver can see where he's going. john

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Ocala Fla. car show, Oct. of 2017 .

Time

Mid day .

Lighting

Bright natural light , perfect for shooting .

Equipment

Cannon 5d, Mark 2, 24/105, U.S.L.V. Lens, with UV. Filter, Hand Held.

Inspiration

The car in this shot caught my attention mainly because of the extreme, over the top, size of it's motor compared to the old Willy's body. Made me think of a 757 jet engine on an old biplane .

Editing

Yes, a little bit of several things, but not a lot of any one. I pulled up the shadows, lowered contrast and highlights, raised clarity and vibrance and cropped, all in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Cannon 5D, M2, 24/105 U.S.L.V Lens, Tripod, Flash, Remote shutter release, extra battery, memory cards, lens rag, u.v. filter

Feedback

Car shows offer numerous photo opportunities and by no means are just for car guys. Cars can be shot from many angles, but the one I use most often is about 10 to12 feet in front of and about 45 degrees off the left or right headlight while shooting on the level with the light ,the same for shooting from the rear taillight. Various angles for different sections and parts of custom cars are only limited to one's imagination. Grills, headlights, fender lines, rear ends, taillights, motors, wheels, interiors, dashboards , steering wheels, or any cool looking custom made one of a kind parts are all good subjects as well as custom paint jobs and body work. You may have to wait for your shot to be clear of passersby, but be patient or sometimes politely ask for a few seconds. If the car your shooting has objects around it ,signs, chairs etc. ask owners if they would mind moving for a clean shot of there beautiful car, owners are usually very accommodating. Take lots of shots of as many cars as you can, there's never to many, easier to delete than miss a good one. There are always interesting people at car shows to photograph too. Try going to a car show, have fun and get some great shots, I'll look foreword to seeing them !!!!
