Location
The photo was taken on Table Rock Lake, Missouri. Most of my sunsets and sunrises are because of the amazing natural beauty.Time
This photo was taken at sunrise. During specific times of the year I will get up before dawn to get to this specific location. I will photograph the sun coming up from blue hour to full rise.Lighting
my favorite time of day to shoot is in the morning light. It fives such a magnificent glow to any image.Equipment
This was shot with my Nikon D750 with my 14-24. This is my favorite landscape set up.Inspiration
I’m always inspired by this location. I not only photograph the sunrises here, but also do a lot of macro work because the lighting is so perfect.Editing
Yes, I ran this image through Camera Raw and made some slight adjustments with the highlights and shadows. Other than that what you see is what I saw.In my camera bag
It would be easier for me to answer what isn’t in my bag. I’ve gone out one time without an item (defuser) in my bag. And learned a hard lesson. So now I take everything I can fit. D750 and my D610. My lenses, 105 macro, 14-24, 85, 35, 70-300. Squirt bottle. Defusers. Reflectors. Clamps. Extra batteries. ND Filters. SD Cards. Gum. Bug spray. Poncho. Snacks. Tools. My bag is heavy, but no matter what presents itself to me to shoot I am prepared.Feedback
If you’ve ever been lucky enough to just sit and watch the sun rise you know it happens fast. So my advice would be to compose your shot before the magic happens. My second piece of advice is to shoot it on a morning with light clouds in the sky. You can get that information from your local weather station or there are many apps out there that predict when and where cloud coverage will be. Clouds when lit by the sun add such a dramatic subject to your image.
