Behind The Lens
Location
I took this picture inside the "Zoo de Vincennes" in Paris. Between this male black jaguar and myself there is only a few meters, and a protective glass thick enough to make me feel comfortable to take the picture ;-)Time
The pictures was taken in the afternoon around the end of the day.Lighting
The day was cloudy and occasionally rainy.Equipment
The camera used is a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and the lens used is an EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM. No tripod or flash were used for that picture.Inspiration
That jaguar looked so powerful and was walking around his park following often the same path. I placed myself in a position where I could be at the same height as his eyes and took the picture went it reappeared from behind some plants.Editing
The original picture was in color, I converted it in B&W and reframed it.I used as well some of the softwares listed below. Adobe Lightroom Macphun Luminar Macphun Aurora HDRIn my camera bag
I carry mostly: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Canon EF 35mm 1:2 IS USM Canon Extender EF 2x III I also carry sometime a Bushman Amarulla carbon Tripod equipped with a Gitzo center ball head.Feedback
The main issue I had, was to avoid reflections on the glass that was separating me from the jaguar.Particularly when people were passing behind me. To avoid those reflections I placed the lens close to the separation glass and used my left hand against the glass both to stabilize the lens and to block the reflections as well.
