Location
I stepped out the front door of the farm house one morning. It was cold & I didn't take time to dress warmly, as I wanted to catch the sun while it was still low in the sky. Completely unplanned, I just happened to see it through the tree. I shot with a high f-stop to get as much in focus as possible knowing that I would lose some sharpness, but I didn't have time to figure out the focus stacking feature. The camera was still new to me and the lens had just arrived.Time
In the morning shortly before 9am.Lighting
Just natural light.Equipment
Nikon D850, with a nikkor 20mm 1.8G ED lens. Hand held at 1/40 second, iso 64, . F/16, manual mode.Inspiration
Waking up to see the somewhat rare sunrise here in the cloudy season of the Willamette valley.Editing
I shot raw, and upped the shadow slider slightly on the shady side of the maple tree. I also corrected the perspective as the wine barrel (home to a hive of honey bees) was looking a bit Pisa-like from the wide angle lens. No photoshop. In my camera bag
Usually my D750 but for the last couple of months the D850. Usually with either a macro setup (Nikkkor 105mm micro or 200mm micro + flash etc) or a telephoto. I usually keep the Nikkor 20mm 1.8 in the bag and a 1.4 converter in my pocket. I have a carbon fiber Manfrotto tripod for carrying, and a heavier 055 Manfrotto with a gimbal which I don't use that often as the 500mm FL is light enough to hand hold.Feedback
I would say just keep a camera handy at all times. I've missed a great many good photo ops in the past because mine was out of reach. For a similar effect shoot quickly into the sun at a high f stop. The sun here was also shaded by the leaves,
