A close up view of the distinctive building in the City of London, England, nick-named The Gherkin. This iconic London skyscraper formally the Swiss-Re Building is now actually called 30 St Mary Axe, but everyone knows it as the "London Gherkin". The building became part of the London skyline on its completion in December 2003. It stands on the site of the former Baltic Exchange which was extensively damaged by a Provisional IRA bomb that exploded on the 4 April 1992.
