Location
This photo was taken inside the lobby of an hotel.Time
It was shot on 14/07/15, 12:00:54 PM I was passing by the lobby of an hotel when I suddenly noticed this beautiful pattern of zig zag stairs. I wanted the vantage point of this shot in such a way which was only possible by lying parallel to the floor so I took it that way resting my arms on my chest for support and to prevent shaking. I deliberately positioned the chandelier slightly off center to keep the eyes rowing around without getting stuck at one place and saved them coming to dead end. I used dark area at the bottom to make a natural frame to the picture.Lighting
I wanted to get the shot of geometrical lines of stairs leading to the to the center of interest the chandelier. I took the shot in available light coming from widows and and some interior condensed bulbs lit very low to give ambience. The soft light got reflected from light color walls helped to capture the details in dense black railing without getting lost in background.Equipment
I used Canon EOS 5D Mark III and EF17-40mm f/4L USM No tripod or flash was used.Inspiration
The beautiful ambient light and hexagonal pattern of the stairs attracted me to make this shot.Editing
It wah shot RAW so I first processed it in color and later converted it in BW Yes some tweaking of shades, contrast etc. were doneIn my camera bag
I usually carry Canon 5D Mark III camera body, 100mm 2.8L Macro, EF17-40mm f/4L USM, EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, Polarizer Filter, Black clothFeedback
Such kind of shots are only possible by lying or sitting on floor depending upon the ease and angle. Try to be at comfortable level and best steady support to the camera with hands to avoid shaking as using tripod is not possible at this angle looking upwards from center.
