When I was a child, I loved reading sci-fi and fantasy books. My favorite writer was Andre Norton. My sister would read them to me, but she stopped and by that time I'd falling in love with the stories, so I started to read them myself. I loved everything about her creations, read every book, travelling through time and space with agents Ross Murdock and Travis Fox, fighting for life and treasures on the lost planet with space pirates as the Solar Queen crew's member Dane Thorson as well as living in Witch World with Simon Tregarth.
One of the most loved series by Andre Norton was Elvenbane, or the Half blood Chronicles. That was an amazing world, filled with elves, who change the environment and living creatures to create new species using their magical powers. Halfblood and humans, who have their own unique type of magic and can read thoughts and then there is of course, dragons...
In this series dragons are not the type of animals that can subdued and used by other races. They are the most powerful creatures who could conquer the world if they so desire, but they are wise enough not to do that. They also have great magic abilities, but use them mostly in very peaceful ways. The most interesting thing for me as a kid was an ability to change shape. They can emulate anything, every living creature or just a part of the environment. They use that ability a lot to live among elves and humans, in order to studying them. Some of the dragons even have feelings for other humans and halfbloods, making friends and helping them. This image is based on that story. I used my photos and a little bit of magic to create my own creature, Dragonelf, a half blood, which could easily exist in Andre Norton's fantasy world.
