This picture was taken at my old studio in London, it was meant to be for a fashion designer.
Time
It was taken in the afternoon, 5 years ago.
Lighting
Lighting was pretty straight forward, a couple flashlights in front of the subject with some diffusers.
Equipment
It was shot with a Canon 7D.
Inspiration
One evening I was pretty stoned and while editing some pictures for the campaign I decided to jam with it; I started playing around with some tools photoshop can offer, and I eventually came up with the idea of distorting her face in an abstract, edgy manner. I was surprisingly happy with the results and decided to keep it as it was for myself.
Editing
For this particular pic, just jamming with photoshop and getting the curves (contrast and brightness) correct.
In my camera bag
From nothing to a studio full of flashes, reflectors, poly boards.... I don't like to limit myself to any circumstances and I don't like to feel like I need more than a camera to get the right picture, it's all about balance.
Feedback
Get high, have fun. Photography comes with a lot of rules you must follow to get a great picture. But creativity has no rules, no boundaries. Read a lot of books (not necessarily photography books), watch a lot of films, listen to a lot of music. Expand your creative boundaries by learning from anything you can get hold of.
