I love the setting, I don't like the model's posture. This would be a stunning image if she was standing a bit different.

Behind The Lens

Location

In one of the tunnels at the NEC in Birmingham

Time

It was just getting dusk looking at the light in the background, i think i wanted the balance between the too so the light wasn't blown out but not were the shadows.

Lighting

All ambient. It was a mission to use my then local area and all the ambient light it offered and not tamper with it. In this case Chynna needed to raise her chin so we could light the plains of her face nicely.

Equipment

5d mk 3 and 85mm 1.8

Inspiration

Really it was just a mission to use all this spots within close proximity of each other from day light through to night and making the most of the ambient. Literally we had several interesting locations and/or light sources within a 10 min walk.

Editing

Standard. Tweak colours and contrast in raw.

In my camera bag

Really depends on the shoot. Usually too much 'just in case.

Feedback

Really it was just working with the model and the shallow depth. Marrying a sharp photo hand held in low light with such shallow focus when the af lights to dart about isn't always fun. You can move over to manual focus if you trust your eye, or try a bit of both. But at 1.8 it really is an all or nothing focal length. And then you just have to hope you get the shot. I think we could have done better with this but it's the one that seemed like the best while sorting thru. It's quite an exaggerated fashion pose but i don;t mind testing the industry and being a little weird.
