Behind The Lens

Location

I snapped this picture near the jetty of Venice Island in Florida

Time

It was sunset and there was a storm rolling in. I have found that stormy skies make for some of the most interesting pictures.

Lighting

Mother Nature provided her own interesting lighting for this shot. I didn't have to do a single thing except press the button on the camera.

Equipment

I almost always have my camera with me but this time I did not. I had no plan to stop by the jetty, it was a spontaneous decision. Since I was completely unprepared, I only had on hand my cell phone so this picture was taken with the camera on my phone.

Inspiration

It was such an exceptionally beautiful and unusual sky that I knew I'd never be able to adequately describe it. Sometimes only a photo will do.

Editing

Shockingly, I did not have to do a thing to this photo. It is shown exactly as it turned out with my camera (cellphone)

In my camera bag

Generally in my photo bag, other than my camera, I have a lens cleaner, a spare battery, a small ziplock bag and some lipbalm.

Feedback

My best advice is to not overthink a moment. If your instinct says to take the shot, take it. Even if the picture doesn't turn out as you'd hoped, if nothing else, you will have learned something.
