Thank you. Yes, early to mid September. Thought the colors would be more at peak but it was my first time up there so wasn't sure. Regardless, I was not disappointed.

Location
This photo is of Maroon Bells which is just outside of Aspen, Colorado, which is an amazing place as well. Maroon Bells is one of the most photographed, and most beautiful places to shoot in Colorado. On a clear day with no wind, the lake is perfectly clear allowing visitors to see straight through the water while being completely reflective of the peaks and trees.Time
This was day two of a photo weekend getaway in September as the aspens leaves started to show their fall colors. Day 1 was planned out to go to Maroon Bells but heavy rain and snow made that into a short day. Day two I was actually on my way to a different location when we ended up taking a very wrong turn somewhere along the way and ended up so lost and on, by far, the most dangerous road that I have ever driven on. After finally making the decision to get out of there and being able to find real roads and a location we could navigate back from we decided to abandon that idea and take advantage of the pass we still had for Maroon Bells and check it out again with better weather before we headed home. So glad we did and even this photo doesn't do enough justice for this amazingly beautiful place.Lighting
I wish I could take credit for the lighting but this is just what mother nature provided. Natural light with intermittent clouds.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D7100 with a 24-70 f/2.8 lens.Inspiration
I have lived in Colorado my entire life and yet there are still so many places I have not been to. This was one of those places and had heard of how beautiful it is so I had to get it checked off of my list. Absolutely no regrets in doing so. If you ever visit Colorado or live here and have yet to go to Maroon Bells, DO IT!Editing
Aside from some minor color balance tweaks this image is just about as-is straight from the camera. In my camera bag
My camera bag weighs just about as much as my full grown beagle, especially since having upgraded and adding new equipment to it since this photo was taken. Currently in my bag are my Nikon D800 and D7100 bodies along with a 10-17mm fisheye, 10-24mm f2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, 150-500mm f/4.5 for wildlife.Feedback
What I have found that I have had to work on is patience and experimentation. Be present wherever you are shooting and if conditions aren't what you want, be patient as the weather can quickly change so sit back and just enjoy what you are being given at that moment or take that opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and try experimenting (one area I am really starting to explore).
