Location
I took this photo in Lower Gannons Park, Peakhurst, NSW, Australia.Time
This was taken in September 2017 around the middle of the day.Lighting
Although it was the middle of the day there were lots of trees around to soften them,Igor, including the one the kookaburra sat in. The terrain is quite hilly where I was taking this and I found myself at the same height often branch the kookaburra sat on meaning I didn’t have to look up to it, but rather straight on.Equipment
I was just putting everything away in the car when I turned and saw this kookaburra. I used my 760D Canon with my 100-400mm lens.Inspiration
I had been out looking for nature to photograph- birds, insects, flowers - while waiting for my daughter. After some time I was getting ready to go when I turned around and saw the kookaburra. I quickly picked up my camera and started to photograph it. I couldn’t believe just how close I was to it - I think maybe 3-5 metres.Editing
I cropped the photo slightly to put the kookaburra in a better position, and adjusted the colour slightly. In my camera bag
In my camera bag I keep my camera - a Canon 760D, lenses - 50mm, 18-55mm, 55-250mm, 100-400mm, 100mm macro, SD cards, spare battery, CPL Filter, lens cloths, lens sphere/ball, lens flipper,Feedback
Birds tend to move quickly so my advice is to be patient, move slowly, be observant and always ready to capture what you want.
