I took this photo from the deck of my friend's backyard while we were relaxing after a social gathering she had hosted earlier that day.Time
This photo was taken a little after 8 p.m. on Saturday July 22, 2017. We had had a lot of rain the week before, and many of the neighboring houses along Fox Lake had suffered from significant flood damage. Fortunately, my friend was very blessed. The water reached her back door, but it did not come inside.Lighting
The beautiful light of the sunset was all the light that was needed.Equipment
My photo of Fox Lake was taken with an iPhone 6S. I did not have any special equipment with me at the time.Inspiration
I couldn't resist taking several photos of this beautiful sunset. It was a lovely evening following an enjoyable day with friends. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.Editing
I don't do post-processing. I prefer the authenticity of capturing moments as they occur, to the best of my ability at the time.In my camera bag
When I plan for an adventure, I carry my Canon Rebel T5 camera, my Tamron 16-300 lens, a gray screen, and a spare battery.Feedback
When I'm hoping to get a good sunset picture, I get my camera ready as soon as the sun starts its descent toward the horizon. Then I wait until it drops just low enough to reduce any significant glare. I choose a focal point, with the sun offset to one side. Then I move slightly in each direction to determine which angle offers the best composition. I double check to ensure that my horizon is straight, because I have a tendency to tip my head to the left a bit - then I start snapping away, changing my angles and zoom just a bit each time. After that, it's just a matter of choosing the keepers!
