I took this photo while me and my wife were hiking in Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Utah, not far away from Mirror lake. There are so many beautiful places in Utah State - that's why I came here all the way from Europe.Time
I am not an early morning person, so we started this hike pretty late. And the hike appeared not so short, so it started to getting late and we were still in the middle of it. On the way back I noticed this beautiful reflection - it was late afternoon already, so the result came out pretty nice even before post production.Lighting
Since it was already late afternoon, the sky came out very blue and the colors of trees were warmer than in the middle of day, so the result is this nice contrast between solid blue sky (and reflection its on water) and the line in the middle.Equipment
For this shot I used my default set - my old friend Canon 5D Mark II with Canon 24-70 F2.8 II lens, mounted on Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
This place is pretty deep in the forest, and during this few hour hike we met just few people, and all of them in the first half of the hike, so it was very wild, very natural environment, in contrast for all those crowded national parks out there. Even the path was not clear and we almost get lost in couple spots. However, couple times we just stopped just to listed for that... silence. Complete silence - no cities, no cars, no people... just pure nature and us. One of such stops was to take this picture, and I ruined the silence with shutter. I hope chipmunks will forgive me for that.Editing
I did, just it was very little "fixes". Since it was perfect time of the day, the picture came out pretty nice right from the camera. In my camera bag
Default travel backpack contains my old work horse Canon 5D Mark II and two lenses - Canon 24-70 F2.8 II and Canon 70-200 F4 IS USM. Sometimes I take a tripod, but not always - since it's pretty big and heavy. And I'm happy I had it on this hike. I have few filters - ND, PL, but I don't use them very often. Recently I added a drone to my package, so hopefully I will post some nice shots from the air soon.Feedback
Just go out. Of course you can make beautiful picture everywhere, but I always suggest to travel more and see new places. If you go to less popular and less touristic place - it may not be your most beautiful view you have seen, but usually it's the best personal experience you can get.
