Behind The Lens

Location

This photo of an Indian Palm Squirrel was taken at Berulawa, Sri Lanka

Time

It was early morning when all the Palm Squirrels came looking for food.

Lighting

This was taken in the shade of the morning sun, it was on a balcony.

Equipment

It was taken on a Canon 500d using a Sigma 18-250mm lens, hand held with no tripod.

Inspiration

I love wildlife of any kind and love getting the chance to record it whenever i can. It was fantastic gaining some trust from these Squirrels so they were happy to eat in front of me and let me get quite close.

Editing

It was post processed in Photoshop to adjust the sharpness and add a few glows around the animal.

In my camera bag

I have a camera rucksack and usually carry my Canon 70D, Canon 100-400mm IS II, Canon 50mm 1.8 and my Canon 10-22mm for landscapes.

Feedback

In Sri Lanka, especially the south, there are numerous Palm Squirrels and it's quite easy to get their trust over a short period which will allow you to get shots like this.
