While I don't condone domestic violence of any sort, I have always believed that dark humor can be used as a medium for bringing uncomfortable topics into discussion. So, when I came across this tank top the day before a planned shoot with Titania Lyn, I knew I had to incorporate it somehow. A few quick texts later, and I had her consent and a few burgeoning ideas. While I went "country" or "all American girl" with one variation of the shoot, I knew the response from most men would be akin to "I'd take that beating." So, to counteract that, I wanted to aim even darker as well, having Titania fill in as a sort of retributor or vindicator - someone fully capable of returning every bit of abuse and unpleasentry to the abuser in tenfold - for all of the silent victims of abuse. I wanted her to have the visual presentation of returning a bruise with a broken bone, a limp with crutches, and stitches with surgery.
Anonymous, intimidating, and yet distinctly feminine, she nailed it better than I could have imaged earlier in that day.
