Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo of my boyfriend, Bobby, on a foggy Jekyll Island morning in January. We were heading back to the hotel to pack and get back to North Carolina after spending a week photographing birds on Merritt Island, Florida.

Time

This photo was taken around 8AM.

Lighting

Fog is interesting. This has nothing to do with this photo, but I found out the night before I took it that heavy fog reflects light amazingly. I had used a small flash to photograph the huge water oaks outside our hotel and the entire area lit up. It was like I used a huge bunch of powerful lights! Every droplet of mist reflected the light. It is an interesting phenomenon.

Equipment

I used my Sony A77 , 35 mm, f22, 1/80th sec

Inspiration

The morning fog was very magical.

Editing

The photo was taken in color and I changed it to B&W with Nik Silver efxpro

In my camera bag

I now shoot with my 2 mirrorless Sony cameras and lenses but have a Canon DSLR full frame which I use as well.

Feedback

Wait for the best fog and get up early. It comes and goes but usually burns off by mid morning.
