Location
The photo was taken in the Faroe Islands. Concretely this beautiful location, with this amazing waterfall, is called Gásadalur, in the Vagar Island. A unique location…Time
This was taken on August 2nd, 2017, at 21:08.Lighting
All the light in this photo is natural light coming from the sun behind the clouds. The quality of light was quite good for a long exposure like the one here.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Nikon D750 mounted on a tripod, I used a remote shutter to avoid any shake. A CPL and ND 1000 filters were used too.Inspiration
I think this capture is inspired by the location itself. When I am in a place like this, my main concern is if I will be able to transmit all the beauty of the place on my capture. On the other hand, I think that the beautiful photos of other fantastic landscape photographers over the internet are the reason that inspires me to take photos like the one here.Editing
I always shoot RAW and use Lightroom to post-process my pictures, however, I don´t like to spend more than 5 or 10 minutes processing a photo. What I like most is being with my camera immersed in the landscape, so if I have the chance I prefer to go somewhere to take pictures instead of being at home in front of the computer. For this particular photo, I applied lens correction, lifted shadows, reduced the clarity, added some contrast, some sharpening and used the LR gradient filter utility to obtain darker and cooler tones in the sky. No more than 10 minutes of work.In my camera bag
Inside my bag, I always carry my Nikon D750 body and the Tamrom 15-30mm f2.8, it is a heavy piece but I love it for landscape photography. Then I pack a second lens like a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 for general purposes or a Tamron 70-200 f2.8. I pack my Haida 150mm filter holder too and three different filters, Haida ND 1000, Nisi CPL and Nisi GND 8. I carry a remote shutter and a lightweight carbon fiber tripod. I also usually carry tissues to clean my lens when it is raining.Feedback
In the case of landscape photography, I think the most important thing to me is to wait for the right moment, the hour when the light is the best. Usually, this moment doesn´t last too much, so you must be ready or you will lose the opportunity. The sunset and sunrise are my favorite moments to take photos because of quality of light, for this reason is important to be in place with sufficient time to prepare your shot that generally involves the search of a good position, prepares all the material and compounds the photo. No less important to me is to enjoy taking the photos into harmony with nature, that way is much easier for me to be able to transmit the sensations that I was experiencing and the beauty of the location.
