In this shot we will explore the major landmarks from Copernicus Crater to Sinus Iridium. Looking towards the top of the photo is Copernicus Crater it is located I the center of Mare Insularum (Sea of Islands). To the right and fading in the shadows is Oceanus Procellarum (Ocean of Storms). Oceanus Procellarum is where Apollo 12 landed with Alan Bean and Pete Conrad. Then as we move down the photo across Montes Carpatus or Carpatus Mountains we find the most prominent feature in this photo Mare Imbrium (Sea of Showers). At the bottom of the photo you will see a huge impact crater that looks like a handle from a coffee cup, this is the beautiful Sinus Iridum or "Bay of Rainbows".
This photograph was taken with iPhone camera with an 8" Orion reflector telescope and 17mm eyepiece, I used a #80 blue filter for contrast.
