Well the hype of the eclipse got me. With the fires and road closures and excessive and unnecessary hiking, I got the photo I had envisioned.

The thing for me is that an experience is impossible to portray. I take liberties with my photos to portray how I FELT, how the experience felt, maybe how the light felt and not looked.

This image is a result of that style.

This wasn't a totality location, but it was 93% and when it hit that 93% this was the eeriness that I was feeling. I hope this image makes you feel that. Sort of like another planet.

A dude we were shooting with was actually going off about how weird it would be for people to experience this long long ago when they didn't know what was happening. Alien like, unknown, creepy darkness in the mid day. It was rather hilarious and true because you can really put yourself in that place during an eclipse.

The fires added a little color and we actually had faint amounts of clouds which worked in my favor. Just an out of control place to be during the eclipse. As rare as earth provides at any one time.

We got truly lucky, as you couldn't even see across the lake the day before!
Crater lake + an eclipse is one that won't be forgotten
