I love the composition of your photo with the light hitting the subjects at an angle which creats a feeling of rest.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my house. My daughter is really lying in bed and getting ready for bed.

Time

It was an ordinary evening. However, at that time I was very fond of experimenting, so I can say that I lived with a camera in my hands. The camera was like a growth on my arm))))

Lighting

Since the photo was supposed to be cozy, I immediately decided that the light should be lamp-like. I didn't have desk lamps at hand at that moment, so I imitated this light with a hand-held flashlight, the light from which I made diffused with several sheets of office paper.

Equipment

This was shot on Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Aperture f/2.8?ISO 1250?Shutter 1/100?Focal Length 24mm?(Sigma F 2,8 24-70 mm)

Inspiration

My daughter inspired me to take this picture. She laid out toys in a row in her crib every evening. After that, she lay down next to me and pretended to read fairy tales to toys. It was so cute that I wanted to save one of these moments for the family archive. I was lucky that in addition to toys, a cat also came to the bed at the time of photographing, it turned out to be very useful.

Editing

In this photo, post-processing is minimal. I darkened the unnecessary details in the photo on the left side so that they would not distract attention. And I also made a color correction, since there was a large variation in colors, I minimized it. Oh, yes, as far as I remember, it was in this frame that the cat moved and turned out to be blurry, so I took it from the next frame.

In my camera bag

In fact, I haven't carried a lot of equipment with me for a long time. At first it was a whole backpack with two cameras, different lenses, flashes, etc. Now, even for commercial shooting, I take one camera, this is the canon 5d Mark 3, and one or two lenses. As a rule, this is canon 85 mm f1.8 or sigma 70-200 mm f2.8. Sometimes I add sigma 24-70mm f2.8

Feedback

Take pictures of your children! Always and everywhere. They grow very fast. When they become adults, they will thank you for the saved moments of their childhood. Even if it seems to you that this is an ordinary moment and there is nothing special about it, take a picture anyway. Because after a while, such moments will be of great value to your children.
