According to the Greek mythology, Zeus was born on mountain Lykaio of Arcadia. Rhea, the wife of Saturn, gave birth to Zeus on this mountain but feared that Saturn would swallow the newborn (as he did with his previous children) tricked him and gave it to the nymph Neda, daughter of the Oceanus to raise it. Today a river named Neda comes from mountain Lykaio in memory of this nymph. This is the largest Greek river with a female name.
